I could pick the absolute hardest game I have ever played and it would still be less hard and less frustrating than this game. It does not take long before each level has a staggering amount of undodgeable fire coming from every conceivable direction. It really is as cheap as it gets. I do not like having to replay a stage 15+ times to beat something. This is not fun-hard, it is just pure frustration at its worst. This games difficulty reminds me exactly of Silver Surfer on NES: undodgeable fire making the game nearly impossible. I actually think Silver Surfer might be easier than this game. Oh and you can also run out of ammo. A ♥♥♥♥ing space shooter where you can run out of ammo. What were these idiots thinking? And that your ship has a life bar is a joke. What good does having a life bar do me when I am going to get slammed up the♥♥♥♥♥in every direction anyway?Oh and never, ever alt+tab out of it. Yes it is that type of game with lazy programming that crashes when you alt+tab. Not right away, but if I let it sit alt+tabbed for like five minutes, the game will just close without even giving me a error. It just closes.What a ♥♥♥♥ing mess. A perfect example of how NOT to do a space shooter. Get a SNES emulator and play Gradius 3 instead. 2/10.. I don't know how metacritic could only give this game a 53/100. This game reminds me of Jets n Guns! include UPGRADE SYSTEMS which is a must for Shump. I've read some bad review comment about this game which is COMPLICATED?? CONFUSING?? , i dont see anything so confusing or complicated. If you want simple NO BRAIN or PLAIN Shump with only shoot to kill using 1-2 button with just pick up upgrades in space, then this game is not for you. Just play a simple game like Raiden etc. For me that kind of simple game is just waste of money which you can complete in short time. PROS- Multiple upgrade systems- Ability to shoot using difference way and weapon combination- Some mission require some weapon skill (just like Megaman X)- Close to reality (the ammo or energy is not infinity)- Not a plain boring simple Shmup with simple pick up upgrades or just shoot to kill.- Great graphic, music and gameplayCONS- no SPEED\/BOOST upgrade found yet since the ship move quite slow (basically the upgrades is not better than Jets n Guns)- quite slow Shmup- Not easy to earn money for upgradesRECOMMENDED FOR ADVANCED PLAYERS.. They basically require you to play for several minutes till you get to the hard part, then you have to memorize each sequence coming up as it kills you and replay the whole thing to get past that point to the next part that kills you. Extremely annoying.. I came for a nice shoot'em'up. I found a game where I need four different fire buttons with limited ammo each. A game forcing me to look out for hidden stuff to unlock new levels. A game that kills me ten times in a row on easiest mode before even getting halfway through the game.There might be people having fun with this, but I'm disappointed. Why does it need to be so complicated? I just want to shoot some things at the end of a long day.. This game is just wacky fun. Image playing R-Type with weapon upgrades that can be purchased between levels and you petty much know what you will be getting in the game. The fun mechanic of this title is you can use an energy weapon to kill regular targets and a physical gun to penetrate shielded enemies, so you will be changing between the two weapon types often. On top of that you can deploy a drone which shoot energy weapons for a few seconds in a stationary position, so you can be firing in two places at once, but you will be placing the drone in the correct location to kill the non shielded foes. Did I mention you will be playing as a chicken who is gunning against the humans?What could possibly be wrong with that???. I played the game a bit during the early early early days, and it was certainly one I was truly looking forward to.Firstly? The graphics are pretty, the gameplay fast and smooth, and the music?The soundtrack -is- this game, it's energetic, fastpaced and totally awesome (to my ears)Still? I honestly don't enjoy playing the game, I found the difficulty not at all to my liking....perhaps I've gotten to old to these sidescrolling shoot'em'ups (just past 30!) , I got fed up after playing the first two levels.Though I personally don't enjoy the game all that much (totally downloaded the soundtdrack however), I can definatly recommend it to fans of the genre.. A classic arcade shoot 'em up, but pretty bland in its genre. Looks good enough and the other technical aspects are fine, but the game just doesn't offer anything that isn't already done better elsewhere. The plot seems dull with overtly stereotypical characters and the enemies are unimaginative. It's like Jets 'n Guns, but without all the neat stuff which made JnG so awesome.Pick this up only if you're a die-hard shmup fan who doesn't have anything else to play.
